From Triple Topping and Akupara Games comes the narrative rhythm game, Dead Pets: A Punk Rock Slice of Life Sim is out now on PC via Steam.
Playing as Gordy, navigate her life as a "30-something year old fuck-up" as her band is on the verge of a breakup, and it's up to her to keep it all together. With rock-n-roll being the one thing keeping her sane, balance shitty jobs, performative friendships, and unfortunate lovers to make it to band practice every week.
Including an original punk rock EP as the soundtrack to Gordy's life, play through unhinged minigames that blend a narrative with management-lite systems with rhythm gameplay.
Features:
Killer Soundtrack: Dead Pets features an original punk rock EP performed during the game.
Play As the Band: Embrace scorching riffs as you shred your way through rhythm-game heaven featuring crossover tracks from other Akupara favorites like Cryptmaster, Airframe Ultra, Cabernet, and many more in Jukebox Mode!
Manage Your Choices: Every choice affects Gordy's wellbeing, the band's power, her social points, or costs her money.
A Demon City Filled With Life: New Void City is filled with NPCs to befriend, with their own storylines.
Minigames for Days: Including working a shift at a diner (diner dash), watering your plant Satan, and making hot dogs.
Success is in Your Hands: It's up to you to hold the band together or let it crumble, one member at a time.
Cartoonish Inspirations: For fans of Bojack Horseman and Tuca and Bertie. We were inspired by their colorful, surreal worlds, long-term and complicated adult friends, and zany, offbeat humor.
Dead Pets: A Punk Rock Slice of Life Sim is out now on PC via Steam for $14.99 USD. Pick it up now to take advantage of a 10% discount available until February 20th.
Why We're Excited
I played the demo of this game during a Steam Next Fest in 2023 and then was able to tell the development team how much I enjoyed it at a Play NYC event that same year. It was a bummer when I heard that this game was cancelled because of how much I loved the vibes that the game was portraying. When we got the news that Akupara is helping revive it and bring it to launch was amazing to hear. Can't wait to step into the shows of Gordy in this full release.
