Former Indie Game Awards Nominee, Talha & Jack Co have announced their next project ABIDE which is being described as an extreme stop-motion first person horror game.
ABIDE is now in development for PC and the devs have shared some information about what this game will look like. This third project from the team is set in the secluded and "idyllic" St. Boniface Retreat where players will explore a community that uses curious therapeutic techniques to try and rehabilitate its residents. Things get harrowing once you venture out past curfew, where the house and its residents have horrors waiting for you to discover.
Talha & Jack Co have consulted with clinical therapists throughout the pre-production phase due to the triggering and sensitive subject manner that will be present in the game upon release.
ABIDE will feature a day/night cycle that creates contrast and tension both mechanically and narratively. Daytime is dedicated to building relationships and investigating by joining "group therapy" sessions, earning trust and learning routines.
Night time brings the terror. Sneak into forbidden places and try to survive when accessing locations that are locked during the day. Players will be confronted with shadows, loud silence and whispers, strange lights, and general feeling of uneasiness in the air.
The characters of ABIDE consist of criminals, creeps, and lost souls. Choosing who to build relationships with will earn trust and unlock mysteries that they are holding inside. Depending on the choices that you make in the game, they will have a real effect on the ending that players will receive. Each one is handcrafted using clay and ball-jointed art dolls, as well as being fully voice acted.
If you want to support the developers and help bring this game to life, you can check out their Kickstarter here. For more information on the game, visit the official website.
Why We're Excited
Talha and Jack make such visually interesting games that makes me think how it's even possible to do. Their journey into horror makes the clay stop motion aesthetic a logical one and I can not wait to see what they achieve with this. Being in first person as well is super ambitious.
