After 4 years of Early Access and seven major updates, the team at Mechanistry is launching the lumberpunk city-builder Timberborn into 1.0 on March 5th for PC via Steam. This announcement also comes with a brand new lore trailer narrated by Shaun Dooley (Elden Ring and Netflix's The Witcher).

Timberborn's Early Access started back in September of 2021 and has been regularly updating and listening to player feedback since then. With each of the major updates, the team was able to add substantial changes to the gameplay loop such as the following:

  • Building out the two beaver factions into vastly different organizations, altering their paths of progress ( including different food production chains, buildings, and architecture)

  • The introduction of 3D water physics, 3D terrain, and expanding vertical architecture

  • Official mod and Steam Workshop support for all players

  • The addition of badwater and badtides—a dangerous new season, like droughts

  • The inclusion of end-game goals, AKA wonders, complementing the game’s sandbox loop.

  • The addition of bots and broadening the available building roster across all categories, from workshops to decorations

  • Addition of faction-specific mass transportation systems: speedy ziplines for the nature-loving Folktails and cutting-edge Tubeway tech for the industrious Iron Teeth

  • Expansion from 7 to 16 built-in maps

Players who can't wait for the March 5th release date and who currently owns the game in Early Access can actually hop into the 1.0 build now since it is available for public testing via the game's Experimental branch on Steam which can be found here.

Why We're Excited

I love seeing a team swing for the fences on their debut title and it looks like after the 4 years since its Early Access launch, the team is set for a fantastic full release. I hope that everyone hopping into the game on March 5th or even today enjoys every dam second.
