The Wide Open Sky is Running Out of Catfish Preview - Say Cheese!
I was really drawn to The Wide Open Sky is Running Out of Catfish from developer ZIPIT! Games when I first saw the trailer a couple of months ago. It’s just the kind of strange and wonderful thing that I absolutely love to play. And I guarantee you’ll fall in love with it too when you look at even just the screenshots on its Steam page.
The Wide Open Sky is Running Out of Catfish is a casual story-driven photography game that takes place on the back of a giant flying catfish. I got the chance to dive into the game’s demo which is available on Steam and you’ll notice right away that the look of it is wonderful. The game is oozing with nostalgia and has that perfect “crunchy” feel to it.
You’ll be able to log into your computer when you first wake up and message a couple of your friends that are down on Earth. No one thinks it’s super strange that you live on top of a flying catfish. It seems like it’s not a totally normal thing, as in, not everyone has their own flying catfish, but it’s not exactly out of the ordinary for you to be there. Your mom hasn’t returned for a while, though, and you’re starting to worry.
The catfish will wake up and speak with you and you’ll be able to equip a magic flute and become a flying fish that can fly around and transform clouds in the sky into fish. You can also, when you’re back on your own two feet, take pictures of animals that fly around the sky and on your little island. You can document your findings and share them with your friends.
I’m looking forward to playing the full version of The Wide Open Sky is Running Out of Catfish because the demo really just scratches the surface of what you can do and what creatures you can find. I’m also interested in learning more about the main character and their friends. The game is so charming and unlike anything I’ve ever played before.
You can wishlist The Wide Open Sky is Running Out of Catfish on Steam now.
