RATSHAKER is an Incredibly Weird, Beautifully Disturbing Adventure
Back in May, RATSHAKER from sunscorched studios, released for PS5 and I recently got the chance to jump in. And may I just say, despite knowing the general concept of the game, it’s even weirder than you can imagine.
Say goodbye to pests with a new revolutionary solution - RATSHAKER. With RATSHAKER you are in control. Watch as your rat meter rises as you shake a poor little rat into submission. As you progress, you might just notice that this isn’t a normal rat. Your rat reacts interestingly to being squeezed by screaming, laughing and even talking to you. Yep, it’s just as weird as it sounds.
And the PlayStation 5 version, in particular, is pretty much the perfect way to play the game. With the PlayStation 5’s adaptive triggers, shaking the rat and squeezing him feels oddly and disturbingly realistic. It forces players to really get into the game, especially considering you have to shake your rat in order to do anything. And it’s just plain funny, shaking the controller around and listening to the hilarious sounds of your rodent companion.
Not only is RATSHAKER ridiculous in concept but it actually has some genuinely creepy moments. There’s disturbing imagery, eerie sounds not to mention that the rat himself gets really weird when he starts chatting with you. There’s a great balance of horror, hilarity and weirdness here and it’s very hard to describe more without major spoilers. And since the game only takes about an hour to complete, there’s not much else that can be said.
RATSHAKER is a silly, strange adventure, but one that finds the perfect home on PlayStation 5. You can also grab the game on PC.
