Pictective Demo Preview | A Meowfficer of the Law
Sometimes I wonder if my cats had jobs, what would they choose to do? I’ve seen cats in libraries and local shops, but could cats be detectives? Doma, the cat from upcoming hidden object game Pictective, is a cat who has just started training in the hopes to become a detective. With your help, he’ll be able to find and apprehend troublemakers and enjoy traveling to some exciting locations along the way.
In the Pictective demo you’re able to play nine different levels from the game. Each level has players investigating a photograph taken from real locations around the world. Each photograph is usually pretty busy, featuring many different elements so that players must parse through it in order to match smaller photos that show items that can be found in the photo. Once you finish each level, you’ll have to find one final troublemaker named Oyen the cat hiding in the photo.
While the game is pretty simple, I found it super relaxing and fun. Some of the matches are super easy to find, and others you might have to look carefully over the photo. Thankfully, if you’re stuck, you can zoom in to really look into the corners and backdrops of every location. It’s a simple concept, but one that is done well here and is really perfect for gamers of all ages and experience levels.
The full version of the game is set to include 12 different categories to explore with 9 different levels in each one. There were also some hints that there may be some unlockables as players earn rewards for completing each level. The demo doesn’t show what kinds of things you can unlock but it could be bonus levels or maybe different outfits for the two cats. The secret is yours to uncover!
The Pictective demo is available now on Steam and the full game is set to launch in 2025. Be sure to wishlist the game to stay up to date on future news.
