Keys of Fury Demo Preview | I Kick and I Conquer
This is a story that probably only those of you in my age group will really understand and relate to BUT, I’m going to tell it anyway. Super quick. In middle school, me and everyone in my class were required to take typing class. It was a class dedicated to learning how to “properly” type on the computer. It was something that many parents didn’t have to study in school because computers weren’t pretty much essential to their education. But for me, it was essential and the class was pretty much just playing typing games for an hour.
And I think that’s why I gravitate towards games like Keys of Fury from developer Elecorn. It’s as though I have something to prove to myself and that something is that I can still type about 70 words per minute with 99% accuracy. Impressed?
Keys of Fury, as you might have guessed, is a typing game mixed with a beat ‘em up in a retro, kung fu style. The main focus of the game is to type as accurately as possible to take down enemies. Speed isn’t everything - something that I have a hard time adjusting to as someone who loves the backspace button on the keyboard oh so much - and every mistake you make will cost you health.
Battle through robots, ninjas, vegetable vendors and more, typing out ridiculous nonsense as you go. The further you progress the harder the difficulty will be. For example, as you get to wave 2 on the demo, words will blink on and off of the screen so you have to try and remember what the words were or wait for them to pop back up. Also as you progress you’ll upgrade yourself, gaining back hearts, earning coins and more.
The Keys of Fury demo which will be available as part of Steam’s October 2025 Next Fest featured one level with three waves and a boss as well as the “Steam Next Fest Challenge” and a mode inspired by Dino Run 2. The regular level is typical, you’ll fend off enemies, upgrade yourself and take on the boss at the end which is a bit harder than normal enemies, giving players less time to type each attack word.
The Steam Next Fest Challenge is quite difficult, but the top ten players that complete the challenge will have their names posted on the Keys of Fury website. Those with fast fingers are encouraged to give it a shot. And, finally, in the Dino Run inspired challenge players must type while racing dinosaurs to the end in an attempt to get first place.
The Keys of Fury demo isn’t very long, but it makes a great impression. I didn’t want to stop after the first boss. If you grew up with typing games like me, you’ll love the nostalgia of testing out your own typing skills, but those that didn't and still like a challenge, will find joy here too, I’m sure. Grab the Keys of Fury demo during October’s Next Fest and look out for the full game which is set to launch later this year.
