Demon Tides Preview | A Speedrunner’s Dream

Demon Tides is the highly anticipated sequel to developer Fabraz’s Demon Turf. In the game you follow Beebz and her crew as they travel the vast ocean of Ragnar’s Rock. Despite the fact that Demon Tides does not yet have a release date, something I immediately noticed about the demo was that it was like a finished product. And if that doesn’t tell you how good the full game is shaping up to be, I don't know what will.

In the demo, your ship crash lands and your crew is scattered around the area. You’ll have to find them using your special transforming abilities. Beebz can transform into a bat to fly and glide across large gaps. She can also be a little lizard that can swim speedily through the water. Once you’ve gathered up your crew you’ll move along to the next area where even more adventure awaits.

Demon Tides traversal is what impressed me the most during my time with the demo. Everything feels incredibly smooth, reminding me of games like Banjo & Kazooie or Spyro the Dragon. The more you get used to all of Beebz’ different transformations, the more you’ll be able to fly through the air at speeds only possible in this exciting world.

In the main game players will navigate the waters and explore structures uncovering hidden areas and chests with treasure. Collect talismans that can modify and expand your abilities or switch up your look with some collectible outfits. Also available in the full game, players can compete with each other by racing and see who can get the best times. It will be a speed runner's dream and a super fun time with Demon Tides epic levels.

Demon Tides does not yet have a release date and, while it is a sequel, you don’t have to play Demon Turf in order to enjoy it. Be sure to wishlist the game on Steam and look out for its release later this year.
