During yesterday's PlayStation State of Play, the developers behind Shovel Knight announced that their new top-down action adventure game Mina the Hollower will be launching this Spring for PC and consoles. Along with this release window, there will be a demo available consisting of the game's opening stage and first major boss fight starting today exclusively on PlayStation 5 until February 27th, 2026. Progress on the demo will carry over to the full game at launch as well.
In Mina the Hollower, you take control of Mina, a renowned Hollower hurtled into a desperate mission to rescue a cursed island. Burrow beneath hazards and monsters, whip foes into oblivion, and gear up with an arsenal of sidearms and trinkets. Explore the authentic Game Boy Color 8-bit stylized world consisting of dozens of distinct regions and containing more total screens than the entirety of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove in Mina's bid to rescue this cursed island.
In addition to 25 bosses - both big and mini, 60 trinkets to discover, upgradeable weapons, full level-up system, New Game Plus, and hundreds of gameplay modifiers, there will be lots for players to delve into this Spring. Before the full launch, check out the demo on PlayStation 5 and wishlist the game on PC and consoles to stay informed of the latest in all things Mina.
Why We're Excited
I have not stopped thinking about my time playing Mina the Hollower at PAX East 2023 and have been eagerly awaiting getting my hands on the full game. From the retro visuals, fun and engaging combat, and that Yacht Club magic, the wait to play is almost over!
