You read that correctly. In the darkly comedic roguelike deckbuilder Pluto you will have to balance cursed dungeons and family obligations when it launches on PC via Steam on March 9th. A demo will be available during Steam Next Fest starting on February 23rd.

Created by two developers, with the help of some friends, at Siege Wizard Interactive and published by indie.io, Pluto blends turn-based deckbuilding with a tactile spellcasting system built around overlapping gestures and improved combinations. "Aspiring magical uncles" must physically construct spells that turns each combat encounter into a small experiment that can go extremely right or horribly wrong.

Ahead of Pluto's release on March 9th, make sure to grab a gift for your niece and check out the demo during Steam Next Fest. Players should go and wishlist it on Steam for the latest updates.

Why We're Excited

Do I need to explain myself here? You play as a magical uncle who must escape jail to make your niece's birthday party. Sign me up. I'm also very intrigued by the spells in the game and having them be cast using the character's fingers is innovative in it's visual identity that makes it stand out.

Wacky Steps is the kind of game that immediately makes you notice how important physics can be in a simple design. At first, it seems like you are only guiding a character forward, but very quickly you realize that the movement system is doing most of the work. The character feels unsteady, almost like every step has to be carefully negotiated with gravity, momentum, and balance.

I enjoyed reading about how Pluto mixes deckbuilding with family obligations—it’s such a quirky and creative concept. For a bit of entertainment during my free time, I also like playing Geometry Dash Lite ; its fast-paced levels are challenging but still a fun way to relax and unwind after reading gaming news.
