Twinkleby is an Adorable and Relaxing Diorama Game
When Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer came out I was completely in love with the concept of making the perfect home for the characters that each had their own wants and needs. Twinkleby from developer Might & Delight is one of the first games since Happy Home Designer launched back in 2015 that gave me that same kind of feeling and nostalgia.
In Twinkleby, you’re in charge of decorating and designing dioramas on different floating islands. As you decorate, neighbors will move in and each of them has traits that affect how they interact with the environment and with each other. You’ll have to meet certain criteria in order to meet particular neighbors. And any neighbor can be kicked out at any time if you’d like to make space for someone else.
At the beginning of the game, it might sound a little harsh, but I was a bit bored. You only start with a few items so my first few dioramas looked very similar, but once you really get into things and you’re able to purchase more items, things really open up. You can put items pretty much wherever you want and however you want so even when you do only have a handful of items, you can make things look different as you move between islands.
As I mentioned earlier, you can decide to kick neighbors out at any time by throwing their things off the island. Any items you toss will end up back in your inventory so you can use them again. It’s a silly little mechanic that makes it fun to start over even when you’ve spent a lot of time working on a diorama.
The main game offers between 10 to 15 hours of gameplay, but as of yesterday the 22nd of October, 2025, Might & Delight are adding Halloween-specific items so there’s even more content available! Here’s hoping there may be even more updates in the future for even more holidays.
