The Girl From Arkanya is Like The Legend of Zelda but with a Capybara

Capybaras seem almost like a mystical creature to me because I’ve never seen one in real life at a zoo or otherwise. And I think that’s why many of us are so drawn to them. That and the fact that they are so freaking adorable. Action-Adventure RPG The Girl from Arkanya understood the assignment in terms of capybara content, and it is such a fun time.

From Arkanya Games, The Girl from Arkanya follows Marisa, alongside her capybara companion Kapi as they explore the dangerous jungles of Amazonia. The game takes on the feel of 2D Zelda games as you explore the land treasure hunting and taking down many different kinds of foes.

I’ve only played a couple of hours of the game, but I really enjoyed the retro feel of it. Instantly I felt like I had jumped into a game from the 80s or 90s and I was really drawn in by the game’s story. The town of Arkanya is bustling with people in a mysterious realm with many secrets to uncover. Marisa is determined to make a name for herself and carry on her family’s legacy as one of the best Treasure Hunters to ever live.

The controls for the game are simple, you’ll unlock a variety of tools that you can use to take down enemies, solve puzzles and even traverse through difficult terrain. You might find yourself getting stuck in one area and then, soon, you’ll unlock a new tool that will let you progress. You can even upgrade tools to perform more functions later on.

While you venture through Arkanya and the many dungeons you’ll discover, you can freely swamp between the game’s main characters - Marisa and Kapi. And if you’d like to bring a friend along for the adventure, The Girl from Arkanya features local co-op, allowing a friend to drop in or out at any time.

The Girl from Arkanya is a grand adventure and one that you won’t want to miss. It is available now on Steam.
