Mashina is an Innovative and Joyful Digging Adventure

I’m always impressed by stop-motion animation. I could never have the patience and motivation it takes to create something little by little to create an imaginative and beautiful creation all completely hand made. Well, the team at Talha and Jack Co. are making a huge impression with their stop motion games. First with Judero from September last year and now Mashina

In the game, you play as the friendly mining robot Mashina who lives in a quirky community based in a junkyard. The junkyard is full of trinkets and minerals that Mashina can mine and collect in order to help mend and build up her community.

Underground you’ll be drilling and collecting minerals and above ground you’ll be speaking with a variety of different characters some of which will have missions for you. None of these missions are particularly challenging but help to introduce you to more characters and allow you to learn more about the world.

To start in the game, you’ll be taught how to drill in order to collect materials, but throughout the game you’ll also be given additional tools to help you with digging. Dynamite, for example, can blow up large areas. Your friend will also introduce you to conveyor belts that allow you to deliver your minerals to a machine called “bite” to process them.

The true joy of Mashina is in its pain-stakingly created world full of big and small details that make it fully come to life. It’s clear that so much thought and love went into each and every choice made. The game is made using various materials, the soundtrack is fun and each robot is fully voice acted. Talha and Jack Co. truly are a team understands what it means to create something special.

Mashina is available now on PC.
