Kidbash: Super Legend Preview - I Let Her Win

Kidbash: Super Legend is the kind of game that when you play it, it simply continues to impress again and again. And then you find yourself wondering how you could have ever lived without it. I know that that’s really high praise, but I mean it. It’s just that good!

Kidbash: Super Legend from developer Authentic Remixes and Fat Raccoon, is a nostalgic roguelike action-platformer where players awaken in a world of forgotten game characters as a hero with no memory of his past. After failing to save the nearby village from destruction, you’ll take it upon yourself to rediscover the true meaning of being a hero.

In the version of the game that I played, given to me by the developer, I was able to play through a few different levels and encounter a boss, who completely destroyed me. I mean, ahem, I totally let her win. But, in doing so you’re introduced to other characters that will help you on your journey ahead. You’ll meet Jim, an overexcited kid and Hanachan, a mysterious girl who offers to help you.

Throughout the game, Kidbash will be equipped with different weapons to take down enemies on each level. As you progress you’ll also be able to choose from a randomized pool of mods that can enhance your platforming and combat. I preferred to use ranged weapons during my game because I found myself getting hit more often when using melee weapons, but it’s totally up to you. The downside to ranged weapons, of course, is ammo management where you have to wait for your gun to reload before you’re able to use it again.

The full version of the game boasts epic boss battles that you’ll encounter as you explore each with their own unique abilities and personalities so I’m excited to see how much strategy will be required to defeat them. I can tell just from the short boss battle I encountered, that things are going to get tough, but that also makes me super excited to dive into the full game.

Thank you to the devs for allowing me to dive into the game and head over to the Steam page to wishlist Kidbash: Super Legend now.
