Keys of Fury: Typing Action Review | My Type of Game

I’ve been pretty loud about my love of typing games in the past. There’s something incredibly satisfying about playing a game entirely based on your skills with a keyboard. And what I love most about Keys of Fury: Typing Action from developer Elecorn, is that it’s not just about typing fast, it’s about typing accurately (which is something I’m awful at. If I can’t use my backspace, I’m doomed.)

One of the very first things you’ll notice about Keys of Fury is that you’ll have to type in order to do anything. Not just to play the game, but to navigate the menus and the dialogue. To start the game, for example, you’ll type “start.” There are even times during dialogue exchanges that you can choose what you want to say by typing it out. It’s a clever mechanic that makes every aspect of the game playable.

While playing the main game, words and phrases will show up on the screen that you’ll have to type out in order to take down enemies. The game is based on old kung fu movies, so your character will be performing epic kung fu moves against her foes. Make a mistake and you’ll lose a heart. That’s why the game emphasizes accuracy - if you accidentally flub a few times, you’ll quickly lose all your hearts and have to start over at the nearest checkpoint.

The game has ways to help you as the difficulty ramps up during each level. At checkpoints during the game, you’ll be able to grab upgrades to help you. For example, you can fill your hearts back up if you took damage during the last level. You can also utilize your fury bar during the levels to help you out. You’ll fill up your fury bar by typing words and when its full you can use it to automatically take down enemies or, leave it, and let the game use it automatically when you make a mistake.

If you’d like a break from the epic story of a kung fu expert taking down robots and ninjas, you can play the games in Arcade Mode. My favorite game of the bunch in Arcade Mode was the “Jokes” game which has players typing out both the joke and the punchline of some terrible jokes. If you don’t find yourself laughing during this game mode, you might just have a broken funny bone, because as lame as they are, you can’t help but enjoy them.

One of my only minor grievances with the game is that occasionally I found it difficult to read the words because of the pixelated style of the font. This is something very specific to me that other players may not have an issue with at all. Additionally, I found that if two words or phrases on the screen at the same time started with the same letter, you may start typing out one word and the game thinks you’re typing the other, so you’ll lose health. It doesn’t happen all that often, so it doesn’t do much to take away from players’ enjoyment of the game.

Keys of Fury: Typing Action is an incredibly fun typing game with enough challenge for experienced players but welcoming enough for players that may not have the fastest typing speeds. With unique arcade games to entertain players outside of the main game, there’s loads to enjoy here. And players can look forward to more of the main story when it unlocks later in 2026.

Final Thoughts

Keys of Fury: Typing Action is a fantastic challenge for players that love typing games. While you’ll need some speed during certain levels, the focus is on accuracy making it a real test of your typing skills. Combined with a fun concept, great sound effects and an awesome soundtrack, I’ll be going back to this one regularly. And I’ll be recommending it regularly too.
