Highly Anticipated Horror Heartworm Gets End of July Release Date
Solo developer Vincent Adinolfi and publisher DreadXP have just announced that their highly anticipated lo-fi survival horror, Heartworm, is officially set to release for PC on July 31st, 2025. Fans of classic survival horror from the 90s will be right at home in Adinolfi’s love letter to players who appreciate the unease of haunted locations.
In the game you’ll play as Sam, a young woman overcome with grief after the passing of her grandfather. In her quest for closure, she is led deep into a rabbit hole of online forums and ultimately to a remote haunted house in the mountains. Things begin to take a turn towards the sinister as Sam pushes deeper into the unknown armed only with a camera and her determination.
Heartworm blends the spirit of survival horror classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill with modern gameplay options. It tells a deeply personal story through pre-rendered and in-game cutscenes, classic puzzle solving and limited but meaningful tense combat using a camera as your weapon. It will feature optional tank control for those who love the nostalgia of it, PSX-style visual and retro effects.
Heartworm launches on Steam July 31st, 2025 and will be available in English, French, German, Latin American Spanish, Japanese, and Brazilian Portuguese. Players that can’t wait to try out the game can give the demo a try now. Be sure to wishlist the game to be the first to find out news of its launch.
