Earth Must Die Demo Preview | The Third Favorite Son

I was interested in Earth Must Die as soon as I came across it because of its cast of amazing voice actors. The game stars amazing talent like: Joel Fry, Alex Horne, Ben Star, Martha Howe-Douglas, Mike Wozniak and many more. Put the term “British comedy” on something, and I’m also so completely for it. 

Earth Must Die is a point and click adventure game where you play as VValak Lizardtongue, Grand Shepherd of the Tyrythian Empire. But he doesn’t start there. In the demo, VValak is THIRD in the line for the Grand Shepherdship just behind his older twin brothers. And his father clearly likes them better. That’s not going to stop him, though. 

The game players like your classic point and click where you control VValak and have him interact with objects and people. You have different options such as look, order, talk, etc. and will use those options to progress the story. At the beginning of the game’s demo, Vvalak’s father is dying and must pass the Shephership onto his sons. Your goal is to convince him to pass it onto you and not your mean, dumb, big brothers. 

As you can expect with “British comedy royalty” involved, Earth Must Die is hilarious. Vvalak is a protagonist that players will likely love to hate and hate to love and he’s accompanied by a fantastic cast of characters including his childhood nursing bot Milky. You’ll be so engrossed in the story you’ll forget that you’re not watching a super well produced cartoon television show. 

Earth Must Die is one of my absolute favorite demos I’ve played in the October 2025 Steam Next Fest so far and I can’t wait to play the full game at release. Be sure to wishlist the game to stay up to date on future announcements. And all hail VValak!
