CARIMARA: Beneath the Forlorn Limbs Preview - Seek Out the Answers
CARIMARA: Beneath the Forlorn Limbs isn’t the first title that the Six One Indie team has fallen in love with from developer Bastinus Rex. Bastinus Rex has also developed TRIP, the surreal first person narrative game that I cannot wait to play when it releases. And CARIMARA is completely and totally different, which is so exciting to see.
CARIMARA: Beneath the Forlorn Limbs is a short, horror game with a gorgeous, unique retro style. Everything in the game moves in unique ways and I’ve never seen anything quite like it. In the game, you meet an old lady who lives in a cottage with a ghost in the cellar. Your goal is to conjure a ghost by answering their questions using your cards.
You collect new cards by speaking with characters and investigating the area inside and outside of the old woman’s cabin. You can then use those cards to complete certain actions or ask more questions to characters. You’ll meet a handful of unique characters and creatures as you play the game, each adding to the game’s unique story.
The main goal of the game, as I mentioned above, is to conjure a ghost by answering questions. The ghost will ask you three questions that you can answer using your cards. If you get any of the answers wrong, you’ll collapse and will start over, forced to try again to find the correct answers. It’s a simple and yet really interesting concept that I found incredibly captivating. I haven’t had a chance to play a full build of the game, but I can’t wait to see how the story wraps up.
One of the coolest things about CARIMARA is that it was inspired by Normandy folklore and almost all of the textures and sounds in the game are hand made. You can tell just by looking at and hearing the game how much care and dedication went into it.
CARIMARA: Beneath the Forlorn Limbs is available to wishlist on Steam now.
