Jump the Track Preview - Just My Luck
As someone who has played a lot of Peggle in her lifetime, you’d think I might get tired of it. But, you’d be very very wrong. I love the randomness that comes with it. That’s one of the reasons why I love Seed by Seed’s upcoming visual novel comedy arcade game Jump the Track.
As described, Jump the Track is an arcade game with boards like Pachinko/Peggle to play in between the game’s story moments. You play as Sam, a slacker who is a little too ambitious for his own good. When his life suddenly takes a turn and he has to set out on a hectic and dangerous adventure, he’ll have to find a way out.
You don’t get a super deep look into the game’s story during the demo that I played for the game which is available on Steam now. But you are introduced to a few characters and you get the idea that Sam is a bit down on his luck. The game’s Steam page states that players will encourage Sam to make decisions as they play so it’ll be interesting to see the different ways that players have Sam react to different situations.
The arcade boards play like your classic Pachinko levels. You have balls that you’ll drop down at the top of the board with the goal of destroying the blocks underneath in order to gain points. The more points, the better. There are also certain blocks on the board that can perform special moves, like a block that refreshes all the blocks on the board allowing you to grab even more points. There’s no rush to complete the levels in any sort of time so you can go at whatever pace works for you.
It’s a simplistic concept, but one that I absolutely love. And the art style and story are what will bring me back to this game when the full version releases. As much as I love Peggle, It’s hard to not connect with Sam and want to help him get through this epic, albeit dangerous adventure.
Jump the Track is available to wishlist on Steam now.
