Epic Games Store Has Denied Distribution of Horror Game HORSES After Previous Approval
Developer Santa Ragione, the team behind first-person horror adventure, HORSES, posted yesterday that the game has been banned on Epic Games Store after the store had previously approved its release build. HORSES was also banned on Steam in June 2023, just days before their scheduled announcement.
HORSES is a 3 hour first-person horror game set over fourteen days on a rural farm where players work as a summer hand under a cryptic farmer. Players must follow the rules of the farm, but these rules soon turn into surreal and unsettling tasks. As you learn more about the farm’s hidden secrets, you have to decide where to keep to the safe path or investigate more. The game blends interactive scenes with live-action intermissions, monochrome visuals and silent-cinema title cards, with unique gameplay events each day.
Unfortunately, due to the circumstances around the game’s launch, the team at Santa Ragione now risks studio closure. The team has stated that they have set aside funds to support the game post-launch including bug fixes and quality-of-life updates for up to six months, but they will be unable to start new projects.
Players that wish to support the game can purchase it on GOG, Itch.io and the Humble Store for $4.99.
