A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe Preview - Can't I Just Stay Home?
I’ve never related to a video game character as much as I do with Giraffe from A Week in Life of Asocial Giraffe. On my best days I try to interact with less than five people. On GREAT days I stay at home and watch movies by myself and don’t talk to anyone. I know it sounds sad, but trust me, I’m thriving on my great days. So a giraffe whose head explodes when he talks to people, is incredibly relatable.
A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe from developer Quail Button LLC is a point-and-click adventure game about a Giraffe attempting to live his day-to-day life without talking to anyone. Unfortunately, he lives in Friendly City where people absolutely LOVE to talk. And they love to talk, A LOT. But, thankfully, giraffe has gotten pretty good at sneaking around, distracting and avoiding the residents of the town.
During the demo that I played I had to deal with a few different scenarios including, grabbing a drink at the store and getting in an elevator. Your goal, always, is to avoid even a single interaction with a person or Giraffe’s head will explode. It seems pretty simple, but it can get pretty tricky if you don’t use your head. Thankfully there’s not a huge downside to some trial and error.
The game felt to me like a lot of classic point-and-clicks from my childhood. There aren’t any complicated controls to learn, you simply click around and see what happens in order to solve each puzzle. But the detail and charm here is what has me excited to play the full game. If you take time to listen to the residents of Friendly City you’ll find yourself giggling as you read the dialogue and watch Giraffe quickly lose his head. And I absolutely love the cute art style. It absolutely makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.
A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe feels like a game made for me and I can’t wait to try out the full game when it launches.
You can wishlist the game on Steam right now.
